HOME / PRK Procedure
| PRK is a proven refractive correction
method |
| PRK corrects vision by reshaping the surface of
the cornea. This method requires gently removing the epithelium,
a thin layer of clear protective skin that covers the cornea.
A laser is then utilized to reshape the surface of cornea. After
the procedure, the new epithelium grows back over the treated
area, typically within a period of three to seven days. |
・Athletes whose sport requires bodily contact,
such as boxing and other sports, may risk dislocating a corneal
flap due to force of impact. These patients may find that PRK,
which does not create flap, may be more appropriate than LASIK
as a vision correction solution.
・Those who have a thin cornea and for whom LASIK is not applicable. |
